Lincoln Christmas market organisers confident the event will be Covid safe
They're discussing the latest advice from the Government in light of the new variant
Organisers of Lincoln's Christmas market says they're confident the event will be Covid safe despite the emergence of the new variant.
They're discussing the latest advice from the Government and whether they need to bring in any extra restrictions.
It's after 9 UK cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus were discovered which is worrying scientists.
The market opens on Thursday 2nd December.
One of the event commanders Simon Colburn says keeping everyone safe is vital:
"I think overall it's not going to affect the market operating whatsoever. We already have very firm messages around encouraging people to take lateral flow tests before they visit. And definitely not to come if they have any symptoms relating to COVID-19"
"we've always been encouraging people to wear a face mask where appropriate - so now we now that must be in the marquees. But also encouraging people to wear masks outside in the market where it's busy"
