Grimsby's Kevin Clifton says the atmosphere when performing now is unlike anything he's ever seen before.

He told us, since returning to the stage, crowds have been extra welcoming.

The theatre industry took a huge hit during Covid with shows up and down the country cancelled.

The former Strictly star's back in his hometown this week for Rock of Ages and said it's great to be back on the stage again.

"I feel like we're all in it together.

"It just feels like a big celebration, we're all happy to be there on stage again and I feel like people are happy to be in a theatre again.

"It's a really nice feeling."

He told us, without being able to perform, lockdown was very strange.

"I had to figure out, who am I actually? When I'm not on stage or camera.

"It turns out I'm this really boring guy who just generally likes to sit with a cup of tea watching Match of the Day."

Kevin said the best part about performing back at home is seeing his biggest fan, his mum.

"I feel nice every time I get home, I'm looking forward to just been in my own bed, it's going to be wicked.

"I just don't have to think about anything, I can just be like a little kid at home, and then come into my home theatre at Grimsby Auditorium."
