Inquest hears baby girl killed in suspected dog attack near Woodhall Spa suffered head and neck injuries

An inquest has heard a baby girl who was killed in a suspected dog attack at Woodlhall Spa died from head and neck injuries.

The hearing opened today in Lincoln into the death of 3 month old Kyra Leanne King at Ostlers plantation on March 6th.

The provisional cause of death was given in a statement by coroner's officer Jacqui Foxlow after a post-mortem examination.

Temporary Detective Inspector Calley Murray told assistant coroner Paul Cooper a probe into the mauling remains "live".

"Detectives are keeping an open mind as they investigate the circumstances".

A 40-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog which was out of control but were later released under investigation.

The dog remains in isolation at a secure kennels, with officers due to seek an order to put it down, the court was told.

The inquest was adjourned until a later date.
