An independent investigation is underway into the now former Chief Constable of Humberside Police.
It was confirmed in a statement by the Police and Crime Commissioner - who says he received details of what he's called "potential misconduct".
PCC, Jonathan Evison has confirmed his office received details relating to the former Chief Constable, and that it was obliged to refer the matter to the watchdog, which happened on Monday 24th June.
Yesterday Paul Anderson announced he was retiring after starting the role with Humberside Police last year - with a career spanning 34 years.
The watchdog the IOPC said the investigation started yesterday and will continue.
Meanwhile the PCC is in discussion to secure interim leadership while the recruitment process begins for a new Chief Constable.
A spokesperson for the IOPC said:
"We have begun an independent investigation following a mandatory conduct referral from the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office. The referral, received on Monday (24 June) contained allegations concerning standards of behaviour, largely related to communication and behaviour towards colleagues.
"We will now conduct a thorough investigation, independently of the police, into the matters brought to our attention."
