Funding for Humberside Police is set to increase by nearly 11 million pounds this year.

The force will also benefit from an extra 99 officers.

Humberside's Police and Crime Commissioner Keith Hunter has welcomed it, but says there are many gaps in the budget;

"There are real stresses in the rest of the Police budget that haven't been addressed and which the Government expects PCC's to fill through increases in local council tax, and if we don't do that jobs are at risk - I know that much"

An extra 10.7 million pounds is being set aside for Humberside police this year. He continues;

"A large part of that is ringfenced around bringing in additional Police officers. That still leaves a number of gaps in the rest of the Police budget that we're working through how to fill at the moment"

Some of the budget will go towards recruiting 99 new officers- but the Police and Crime Commissioner believes there are other issues that need to be considered.

Meanwhile Keith Hunter says they will continue with their improved approach in the communities "The improvements that Humberside Police have made over recent years continues because all of our communities are starting to feel that real difference. All of the feedback I'm getting is that our communities want Humberside Police to continue delivering that improved Policing service"
