On Armistice day a veteran from Lincolnshire recalls the day he lost both his legs in the Helmand Province, of Afghanistan.
Tom Folwell - from Horncastle - completed two tours in Iraq before the incident happened.
He stepped on an improvised explosive device.
We spoke to him ahead of today's Armistice day events and also those on Remembrance Sunday.
He told us: "In the hospital there was a charity called Troop Aid and they gave us clothes and shorts that helped us get on and off with all the tubes sticking out."
"Help For Heroes did a l lot whilst I was learning how to walk again."
"If you stop remembering then mistakes will happen again."
"If you forget what happened in the past you'll never learn from it."
"It's always worth remembering the actions that others did that caused the problems and also the actions that helped fix the problem."
"I joined when I was 17, I got taken down the careers office by my dad and I didn't really know what I wanted to do so he took me there and I joined up."
"It was good from what I remember, I served 12 years."
At the time you don't remember but it was all good."
