Homelessness charity in Grimsby planning a new shelter to support more vulnerable people
Harbour Place says it wants to build one on their grounds in Hope Street because of rising demand
A homelessness charity in North East Lincolnshire's told us a new shelter planned for their grounds will help give more vulnerable people support.
Harbour Place in Grimsby says it's needed because they're struggling to find accommodation to coper with rising demand.
They want to build it on their grounds in Hope Street.
Andrew Browne is the charity's Chair of Trustees:
"It'll be for five people and we will aim that at people who are particularly vulnerable who need particularly intense support that we can continue to provide.
He's told us people struggling with money is leading to more people losing their homes and livelihoods:
"It is a consequence of all the multiple issues that are behind homelessness around social issues, mental health, perhaps family breakdowns. All these kind of things - they become more acute when money is tight.
He told us they appreciate every donation they get:
"It is obviously more difficult to ask people for support when you know they might be struggling themselves. And a lot of that comes in small donations from the immediate area which is not the most affluent part of town."
More than 80 people are expected to sleep outside to raise money for the charity tonight.
