Homeless charities across Lincolnshire prepare for a difficult winter
Project Compass in Lincoln told us they fear they might not have enough clothing and food to cope with the numbers coming to them
Homeless charities across Lincolnshire fear they may not have enough stocks of clothing and food to last through the winter with demand expected to be high
Project Compass in Lincoln told us those sleeping rough may struggle to cope with the colder weather to come.
Low temperatures can have a real impact on those who are outside overnight.
We spoke to Becky Frost the Lead Development Worker at Project Compass.
We'll be looking at our stocks of bags, blankets and warm coats
The Project looks after rough sleepers.
She said: "We're already looking at the change in the seasons - we've just had a huge hot spell and although that was lovely unfortunately the colder weather will mean wet feet - wet clothes."
"We will get through an enormous amount of things over the winter - we'll be looking at our sleeping bag stock and our blanket stock as well but particularly warm coats and a bag of things to take away."
We do feel there's an extra pressure over the winter
"For some people who perhaps aren't as engaged as they could be in getting into accommodation in the summer there suddenly a sense of urgency when they become very wet and very cold."
"We do feel there's an extra pressure over the winter."
"It does seem more pressured during the winter and we do worry about people's physical health because obviously being outside getting damp being in a draft and potentially getting quite cold is a worry."
