Experts in Lincolnshire are giving reassurance the coronavirus vaccines are safe after reports of people having side effects.

It's after Kelly Swain from Lincoln went into an anaphylactic shock.

She compared it to being struck in the back of the head.

"I came over with the white fluffy cloud behind my eyeballs and then the sheer panic so I got taken straight back in.

"I felt extreme fear and emotion.

"I had it because I wanted peace of mind to protect myself as I look after my vulnerable son.

"So it's to protect us and to protect the world."

NHS Lincolnshire CCG said, “The vaccines approved for use in the UK have met strict standards for safety, quality and effectiveness set out by the independent Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

“All those receiving their vaccine are screened by a GP in advance of receiving the vaccine.

"Allergic reactions are rare and usually happen within minutes and staff are trained to deal with any adverse reactions.

"No long-term complications have been reported.

“We would encourage anyone to discuss any concerns or issues they’ve had during their vaccine experience with their GP or our PALs team.”
