Grimsby Town beat Luton to reach the FA cup Fifth round
They now go to Premier league Southampton
Grimsby Town have stormed into the 5th round of the FA cup for the first time since 1996 after last nights 3 nil win over Luton Town.
It was a comprehensive victory over the championship side in the 4th round replay.
At the final whistle there were jubilant scenes from Mariners fans.
Goals from Harry Clifton, Danilo Orsi and Danny Amos secured the win.
Speaking to the club's twitter account manager Paul Hurst said:
"It's almost a little bit unbelievable still to be honest, especially the scoreline."
"Who'd have thought we would have won even three nil on Saturday and then to back that up tonight with the same score."
"I know the club has had many a special night but for a certain generation and in recent years that has to be right up there."
"You kind of feel quite privileged and we've spoken about "wow moments" and that's another one to add the list."
"Pleased for everyone and although it's an evening there might be one or 2 people with sore heads in the morning after maybe late night celebrations."
We also spoke to Town fan and podcaster James Pywell.
He said: "What a game, I think I speak for all the Grimsby fans in saying we were not expecting that for a second."
"To be three nil at half time is just incredible and the lads performed admirably and I don't think there's anything else we could have asked of them."
"Now we're in the 5th round of the competition."
"We're the lowest ranked side still in the FA cup and I can't wait for the game at Southampton."
And that Southampton game takes place on the south coast on Wednesday March the 1st.
