Grimsby Town football club are hopeful they'll be allowed to have fans back into Blundell Park soon
But they're concerned which tier we'll be put into tomorrow
Grimsby Town football club say they're concerned the area will be placed into tier 3 restrictions after national lockdown - meaning they wouldn't be allowed to have fans back, just yet.
The government announced that up to 4,000 supporters can attend matches from next Wednesday in tier 1 and tier 2 areas.
Philip Day the chairman says they need to get fans back soon, to ease the financial pressures "I calculate we're down about 50% of our income so far this year" he continues "if your income has gone down 50% and your outgoings are pretty much the same then that creates substantial financial pressures"
He says, even if the area is put in the lower tiers, only around 2,500 people will be allowed back to Blundell park- which normally holds around 9,000 supporters.
