Figures show an increase in aggressive behaviour in dogs since the pandemic with one pet hospital in Grimsby telling us they're definitely seeing more.

Almost 25% of vets nationally are reporting treating more pets injured due to dog aggression in the past year.

Thomas Rainbow is a rehab trainer at Blue Cross in Grimsby who told us about the issue.

Lockdown is probably one of the main factors

He said: "Pets come into our care with behavioural problems and our behavioural team in 2022 intervened or helped out with 1,700 cases and already this year, approaching half way through we've had to be involved in 1,000 already."

"Lockdown is probably likely to be one of the main factors with a lot of dogs being quite under socialised."

"People within this time were impulse buying a lot of dogs with potentially not the best genetics because there were a lot of dogs being bred during that time."

"We've had an incredible amount of success this year and we've been able to place pets into their new home multiple times."

"It's lovely to be able to give the pets the opportunity to go on this journey with us and find their way into a home they'll be spending the rest of their life with."
