A Grimsby mum who’s son went into a ‘septic shock’ at just three weeks old says spotting the signs of Sepsis should be as important as learning first aid.

Charlotte Cullum’s son Rory lost his right leg after contracting the illness in 2020.

Charlotte says she didn’t know what the symptoms were at first, she said:

“We didn’t have a clue, could things of been different? We don't know, so to me I just I just want all parents to know what to look out for the wheezing, high temperature the pail blotchy skin not passing urine shivering but most of all just trust your instincts if something isn't right don't leave it to chance.

“There were complications with his resuscitation, and he has lost his right leg as a result of complications from that. He was about 10 months old and that's obviously changed his life and ours forever, he has a little prosthetic leg now.

“I noticed there wasn’t a lot of support out there. So I am really keen to build up that network, here isn’t a lot of attention for parents themselves. We have set up a Facebook group.”
