North East Lincolnshire Citizens Advice says the number of people struggling with almost 'unmanageable' debts is STILL increasing.

It comes as bills including council tax, water, prescriptions and for some, even rent increase from this month.

It's thought that's being reflected elsewhere in the region.

We spoke to Tony Gaskins who's Chief executive at the branch in Grimsby.

He told us: " We know that we've got wide ranging increases in council tax which has seen some areas going up by 5 per cent."

"We're seeing some social landlords now increasing their rents by around 7 per cent, we're seeing energy costs that are still very high."

"Frankly it's challenging, it's quite concerning."

"We're seeing more people coming in and the problem for them is that the solutions aren't readily available to them".

"They're relying on a range of support which we're concerned is being eroded because of the sheer demand on it."

"We know from conservations with other Chief Execs that they too are seeing these big increases , so there's huge pressure on advice services at the moment simply because of the sheer number of people struggling to meet the cost of living."

"What we've seen in North East Lincolnshire is people presenting with energy debts is less than anticipated, however people presenting with council tax arrears is much higher than anticipated."

"What we think is happening is people use that money to buy food and pay energy costs."

"We're seeing people now who are coming in with almost unmanageable problems."

"We're doing an awful lot of "debt assessments" when we look to find the best possible route, the best possible solution to their problems."

"That's increased by a big margin."
