Funding to address knife crime in Lincolnshire
Almost 2 hundred thousand pounds of home office funding has been given
Lincolnshire Police is looking to address knife crime after concerns about the number of related incidents in the county.
The region doesn't have the same kind of problems big cities do but there have been several major cases involving knifes recently.
The force will get almost 2 hundred thousand pounds of home office funding
Some of the money will be used to provide specialist training to staff, help predict 'hotspot' areas and to identify people at risk of serious violence.
Increasing trend in knives being used in murders
We've spoken to Superintendent Suzanne Davis lead for violence at Lincolnshire Police about the issue.
She told us: "We'll be able to use the money with the University to actually make a difference to reduce murders in the county and of course I hope that will reduce knife crime in general."
"We've had murders over the last couple of years."
"We're seeing an increasing trend where knives are used in those murders."
We want to hear young people's experiences
"If we can take one knife off the streets and stop one murder that's a fantastic thing to do."
"Lincoln University's plan is to engage with young people and understand their experiences and fears of knife crime."
"We'll be working with them."
"I'm hoping they can tell us how they feel and what the reality is for them."
