Four flood warnings have been put in place for Newark
by the Environment Agency
The environment agency has given four flood warnings for the Newark area. A flood warning means flooding is expected.
The environment agency say the below areas are affected:
River Trent at Newark Sugar Factory and Kelham Bridge:
"River levels are rising at the Colwick river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is expected to begin this evening. Areas most at risk are the Newark Sugar Factory and Battery including Kelham Lane, Great North Road and Kelham Bridge. We expect river levels to keep rising into tomorrow, 22/01/21"
River Trent at Newark Tolney Lane and Riverside Marinas:
"River levels are rising at the Farndon river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is expected to begin around midday today, 21/01/21. Areas most at risk are the Tolney Lane Caravan Site and riverside marinas in Newark. Further light rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to keep rising into tomorrow, 22/01/21. We are closely monitoring the situation"
River Trent at Farndon riverside properties including Dorner Avenue and Wyke and Marsh Lane area:
"River levels are rising at the Colwick river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is expected to begin this evening. Areas most at risk are Farndon, including Wyke Lane, Marsh Lane, Farndon Road and Dorner Avenue. We expect river levels to keep rising into tomorrow, 22/01/21."
River Trent at Fiskerton Mill including Rolleston Fields, Gorse and Nurseries area:
"River levels are rising at the Colwick river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is expected to begin this evening. Areas most at risk are Fiskerton Mill, including Rolleston Fields, Gorse, and Nurseries. We expect river levels to keep rising into tomorrow, 22/01/21."
The Environment Agency also say "We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are patrolling watercourses in the area and liaising with emergency services. Please avoid contact with flood water and see the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast"
Other flood warnings in Lincolnshire are still in place for the River Witham from Washingborough to Boston
