There were scenes of heartbreak last night amongst England fans after a late Spanish goal thwarted the Three Lions' hopes of winning Euro 2024.

Cole Palmer's equaliser had given them hope.

However in the end it wasn't to be England's night and for the second Euros final in a row they had to settle for second place.

The game was watched across Lincolnshire and Newark in people's homes, local pubs and iconic locations like Lincoln Castle.

We spoke to some of the supporters there following the game.

Here are a selection of their comments:

"Here again at another finals - I can't believe it to be fair - it just breaks you - absolutely breaks you."

Heartbroken - so close again

"I think they played really well - it was always going to be hard."

"We put up a real fight but we lost in the end."

"We've got such a great team - I just don't think we play it well enough together."

"England have got probably better players on paper but it just didn't happen tonight."

"I think we played alright - we played better."

"Obviously very disappointed for what's happened - thought we'd get through because we equalised - bit of a shame the last goal wasn't offside."

"I'm upset and disappointed."

"Heartbroken - so close again but we'll be back."

"I thought it was quite good - few defensive frailties but Spain are a good team - probably the best team in the tournament."

"It just wasn't good enough - next time hopefully."
