Police have had items thrown at them as they went to an unauthorised bonfire on Lincoln's tower estate.

It follows safety concerns about the fire behind Tower Avenue.

Efforts to deal with the blaze were hampered by items like eggs and beer cans being thrown.

Police put a dispersal order in place to try and deal with issues.

That ended at 7 o clock this morning and allowed police to remove anyone creating a problem to leave the area.

Anyone ignoring the order could be arrested and prosecuted.

Police also say they can direct the person to surrender any item in the person's possession or control that the constable reasonably believes has been used or is likely to be used in behaviour that harasses, alarms or distresses members of the public.

Extra patrols have been taking place in the area overnight but it's hoped now the dispersal order's been lifted calm will return to the area.
