Efforts made in North East Lincolnshire to recruit more nurses
Nurses say it's a rewarding career despite the pressure
Efforts are being made in North East Lincolnshire to get more people to consider a career in nursing despite the current pressures.
The health service is looking to increase the numbers in the nursing sector.
They're hoping more people will take up an apprenticeship in healthcare.
We spoke to Grimsby nurse Alyson Robinson who's a community staff nurse.
She told us: "We're always going to need care even with what's going on it's still a rewarding role."
"I'm lucky I work in a really supportive team."
"Yes I do have really stressful days and I work outside of my hours but I still wouldn't want to do anything else."
"You are supported when you're already working in that role."
"It was a benefit for the organisation to do it for me because I was going to join them. it's like making a home."
"It's like growing their own nurses".
We also spoke to Laura Teams who's a Tutor at Franklin College – they’re putting on a new course this year to get more people into nursing:
She says: "It is more for those who want a job or role for healthcare."
"They need a University diploma or degree to get there."
"We're looking at radiography, social workers, physiotherapy, nursing, midwifery - courses like that."
