Driver dies after car enters River Witham
A black Audi A4 was found in the river - the driver, a 39-year-old man and the only occupant of the car, sadly died later in hospital.
A man has died after his car entered the River Witham in Boston on Sunday evening.
Police were called to Witham Bank East, near Sluice Bridge, just after 9.40pm on Sunday 5th October, following reports of a vehicle in the water.
A black Audi A4 was recovered from the river and the driver, a 39-year-old man and the only occupant, was taken to hospital where he sadly died later.
The man’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Officers believe the driver may have been in the Fydell Street and Union Place areas before the incident. A spokesperson said they are appealing for anyone who may have seen the car or have footage to come forward.
Police said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Fydell Street, Union Place and Witham Bank East from 9pm through until 9.40pm and may have seen a black Audi A4 driving or parked in the area, to get in touch. We would also ask that anyone who has recorded footage of the vehicle, dashcam or doorbell footage etc, to contact the Investigating Officer.”
