A number of people have been ‘dealt with’ and ‘multiple vehicles’ have been seized by police in North Lincolnshire.
Officers have issued a dispersal order around Scunthorpe’s Central Park after they were called to people driving dangerously and causing anti-social behaviour in the area.
They say they were aware of a planned vigil, together with a procession, which was set to happen around Scunthorpe yesterday afternoon (27 January) but they then were told by a number of locals about people on motorbikes and quad bikes in the area.
These aren't thought to be connected with the vigil.
They’re urging any witnesses to come forward as they work to identify everyone involved over the coming days.
Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson said: “We have now issued a dispersal order on Central Park following these concerns and local residents can expect an increased police presence throughout the weekend providing reassurance to the community.
“A number of people have already been dealt with for road traffic offences, we have seized multiple vehicles, and we are working with the local authority to inspect public areas followings reports of damage to fields in the area.
“Over the coming days, we will be reviewing the aerial footage taken, as well as CCTV footage to identify those involved, and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, have CCTV or video footage from around the area to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 150 of 27 January.”
Officers say they continue to encourage anyone with any concerns or information about crime or antisocial behaviour in their area to speak to your local officers.
