A mental health service in North East Lincolnshire says the amount of people they’re seeing has reached ‘tipping point’

It’s as the cost of living crisis is having an impact on people’s mental health.

Simon Beaton is the chief executive of NAVIGO, he said:

“Lots of people seem to be reaching out for help now. It’s not a surprise really given the social circumstances that we’ve got at the moment with rising prices everywhere.

“You only have to go into the supermarket now and every time the price of bread seems to be going up, as does milk. All those primary needs we have to keep a roof over our heads, it’s having an impact on people’s mental health and wellbeing.”

NAVIGO says it will ease pressure on the service if people get support, they need before it gets worse for them.

Simon added:

“The NHS is short of resources and NAVIGO is an NHS organisation but the earlier we can see people, the better the outcomes are going to be for those people and the less of our acute secondary care mental health services are going to be used.”
