As the Covid crisis continues, the role played by those working in care is being praised.

Staffing continues to cause issues because of the pandemic though, and bosses are afraid more workers could seek to find alternative employment.

Chair of the Lincolnshire Care Association Melanie Weatherly says:

"I'm hoping that the wider society has began to realise how valuable the care worker is.

"I hope it translates into better awareness and better terms and conditions.

"We have to recognise the value of what people do, or there will come a point when some will search out easier jobs paying better money.

"People don't do the job for the money, but that's no reason not to pay them what they're worth. It's an incredibly skillful job paid as if it's a low skilled occupation which it's not."
