Plans to reopen closed social club in Cleethorpes face local opposition
The complaints centre over the potential for late night noise

Plans to reopen a currently closed social club in Cleethorpes are facing opposition and complaints from the local community.
Cleethorpes Social Club is currently shut to the public, but has applied for permission to reopen and play music until 2:30 a.m.
In addition, the club on Grimsby Road is also asking the local council for a licence to serve alcohol until 3 a.m. every day of the week.
But residents are concerned about the potential of being kept up into the night, and have signed a petition to stop the licence from being granted.
As well as this, local Neighbourhood Watch representatives have branded the plans as 'unacceptable'.
Responding to the concerns, the club specified that the noise would be coming from the front of the club, reducing the amount of noise for residential areas.
Due to the objections from the community, the future of the club's application is in the hands of North East Lincolnshire Council's licence committee.
Speaking about her objection to the club, local councillor Marie Green said that the club's location is the main cause of concern.
"This property has only a narrow alley between it and the closest house in a row of terraced homes. Given the close proximity to homes, all licensed activities should conclude no later than 11.30pm,” he said.
Former councillor Hazel Chase also objected to the plans, saying: "Although used as a private club in years gone by, the opening hours were not as lengthy as those now requested and the previous owner worked well with the community in which it sits.
"This venue is right in the middle of a residential area and such opening times together with live music is not acceptable.”
North East Lincolnshire Council's licence committee has set up a hearing for concerned residents, which will take place on February 1st.
