Its claimed support for people living with Parkinsons in Lincolnshire may be becoming harder to access.

It affects around 1 in 500 people in the UK.

Martin Newton from Lincoln was diagnosed with it ten years ago, and has been waiting for an operation in Nottingham for over a year.

The delay is a result of the backlog caused by Covid, leaving Martin in limbo.

We spoke to Martin about the situation.

He told us: "I'm waiting for operation myself, it's called deep brain stimulation and it's an operation that helps relieve a lot of the symptoms".

"I went to Nottingham last April - a year ago."

"Then I was supposed to go in July but it was cancelled because of Covid".

"So it's been over a year since I saw the specialist at Nottingham and I still don't know whether I'm going to be eligible for an operation or not."

He spoke about the Lincoln support group.

"The people who ran it were getting older and wanted to finish and Parkinsons UK wanted to change the way things are run."

"Nobody's taken up the reigns, but we are still looking for someone to run it."

"So it could start again hopefully but it's not at the moment."

"I think it's a good idea to find a group and talk to other people about different experiences".

"Anyone in the Lincoln area can talk to myself and also Karen through the Lincoln Parkinsons group."
