The Brown Cow pub in Louth has been left in disbelief after their Christmas tree was stolen in the night.

Victoria Hopper, the landlord said:

"It was disbelief at first, and then just absolutely devestated.

"Like many families, it's our favourite Christmas tradition, going to choose and cut down our tree and it felt even more important this year, because even though we're closed, we still wanted to have a tree outside and show that Christmas spirit."

The owners took to social media to share the sad news, leading to several anonymous donations of trees for the pub.

Two new Christmas trees were given to the pub as well as donations for Christmas lights.

Victoria said:

"It's a fantastic show of Christmas community spirit, the people of Louth are absolutely amazing, it just goes to show, the good really does out weigh the bad.

"We feel completely overwhelmed by the love and support the community has shown.

"The two trees are wonderful and we've also had donations to buy new lights, plus hundreds of lovely messages.

"It's really, really lifted us all up."
