Charles has been officially declared King across Lincolnshire and Newark following a series of events yesterday.

Proclamations were made in several places in the region including Scunthorpe, Newark, Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Skegness, Boston, Grantham, Manby near Louth, Bourne, Gainsborough and Spalding.

At Lincoln Cathedral hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects and see the proclamation.

That was read out by the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire Tim Strawson.

We spoke to him afterwards.

He told us it was an unusual experience : "I don't know how to put it into words actually."

"I'm struggling to come to terms with the loss of our Queen, I'm 60 years old, she's been Queen all my life, she's been the rock of this country."

"She's just always been there for us, we've had 15 Prime Ministers, they come and go but the Queen hasn't - she's always been there for us".

"This is a momentous occasion because King Charles has ascended to the throne."

"It's not as if there's a precedent either because it hasn't happened and no one can remember how it's done."

We spoke to people in the crowd outside the Cathedral.

They told us: "I found it slightly upsetting but slightly joyous too because people came together to celebrate the new King."

"I thought it was absolutely wonderful, after the sadness of Thursday then to come to this today in this beautiful sunshine was very moving."

"It has been quite emotional actually".

"People have come together and wanted to sing "God Save The King"."

"For me it's been a lovely reception."

"It was a moment in history that we wanted to be part of."

"We heard the proclamation in London and we wanted to see it in our Cathedral in our home city."

Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones was at the proclamation at Lincoln cathedral yesterday:

"It's a very poignant and sad occasion but also a happy celebration for our new King, Charles III. As the publics' representative for policing across the county I feel like it's very important that I'm hear for this.

"It's solemn but also a joyous occasion. We've got to remember the years , the decades of service that the Queen dedicated to our country and our county. We've seen that with Charles as well - he's given his life of dedication.

"I'm very excited to see the kind of King he's going to be in helping us move forward as a nation".
