Care home manager calls for vaccine deadline to be pushed back

A Care home manager who runs sites across Lincolnshire is calling for the Government to push back the vaccine deadline for carers to get jabbed

Today is the deadline for care home workers in England to be fully vaccinated, in order to continue working.

But a care home manager who runs sites at Stallingborough near Grimsby, Fiskerton, Bardney and Ruskington thinks the date should be pushed back to the same time as the NHS's vaccination deadline which has been announced to be in April 2022.

Paul De Savery is the manager director of the Old Vicarage Care home in Stallingborough, he said:

"“Im in favour of the concept that ‘everyone should be vaccinated’ im against the idea that it’s going to be implemented immediately because its going to cause a massive disruption. The prime minister should delay it to the spring just like they have with the NHS.

Paul says it's a bigger risk not having any staff than having carers that haven’t been jabbed.

He added:

“I think deadlines are fine, but if they become self-defeating because there’s not enough people who have crossed that deadline then what’s the bigger risk? Somebody who comes in who hasn’t been vaccinated, or no staff?”
