Campaigners against felling of trees in Newark vow to never give in
They're due to be axed by Newark and Sherwood District Council
Campaigners against the felling of 4 trees in Newark say they won't give in.
They're due to be axed by Newark and Sherwood District Council because of a legally binding agreement to create new spaces at its London Road Car Park.
It says it'd cost taxpayers more than 600-thousand pounds to save them.
Wendy Patterson from Stop the Chop said campaigning is the 'right', 'green' and 'responsible' thing to do.
"We view the plan with utter dismay.
"We are determined that we will do everything we can in order to persuade the council to think again and do the right thing.
"We will continue to protect the trees, and the green space, for as long as it takes in order to prevent the destruction."
