We're being told businesses across Lincolnshire are still feeling the pressure as members of staff are being forced to self isolate, despite a drop in the number of alerts being sent to users of the Covid app.

There's been a 40% reduction in England and Wales.

It comes after an update earlier this week to ensure fewer contacts of people with coronavirus are told to isolate.

But Katrina Pierce from the counties Federation of Small Businesses says many are still struggling.

"The biggest challenge at the moment is around staff being 'pinged'.

"We have seen an expediential rise in the amount of staff that have being told to isolate and therefore be off work.

"That's really impacting on hospitality and retail particularly."

She says it can have a huge impact on smaller businesses.

"If you think of something like you're average pub or restaurant, if they've got half their staff off they're having to reduce the amount of dishes they can serve and how long they're open.

"In some extreme cases, in smaller businesses, where all of the staff or a significant number of them are told to self isolate, that's the entire business closed.

"It's a really awkward thing to happen right now when business are, allegedly, in this feeling of freedom."
