Bumper crowd flocks to Newark for the Nottinghamshire County Show
The event was back for the first time since 2019
A bumper crowd turned out for yesterday's Nottinghamshire County show at Newark after 2 years away due to Covid.
The event had previously been over 2 days but this year went for just one.
It also looked to increase the amount devoted specifically to the agricultural industry.
Of course the good weather made a major difference with some of the longest queues outside the ice cream vans.
The event including various displays such as show jumping, sheep, cattle, horses and of course lawn mower racing.
Yes lawn mower racing.
There was plenty of chances to see livestock up close as well as watch the many competitions which took place.
There were a number of rare breeds too.
And plenty of trade stands to suit everyone whether they were looking to splash out on a brand new tractor or just fancied a bite to eat.
There was a lot of action in the main ring as well as other displays throughout the showground.
After 2 years away people were simply glad to be back and enjoy some of the attractions they hadn't previously been able to experience due to Covid.
The official figures for the attendance haven't yet been compiled but first thoughts were that it was a very good turnout.
We spoke to the Show Manager Elizabeth Halsall.
She told us: "Our competitors have been asking us all the time when are we going to run."
"There was severe disappointment for 2 years having to cancel so being able to bring the show to life this year has been fantastic."
"We've had great support from our competitors but also from our visitors."
"Advance tickets did particularly well."
Official attendance figures should be available within a few days.
