Boston United are within touching distance of being promoted as they take on York City in the promotion final this afternoon.

The Pilgrims have spent 12 straight years playing in the National League North – the longest of any club in the division.

They beat AFC Fylde last weekend to earn their spot.

878 Boston supporters are travelling to the LNER Community Stadium in York for the match.

Kick off is 3pm.

Club secretary Craig Singleton says this day didn’t seem possible just a few months ago:

"I'm very excited, it's been a long season. Been a bit up and down. Didn't look like we would actually make the playoffs going into the last day of the season.

"But we pulled it off and so far have won away at Kidderminster and AFC Fylde to set up massive promotion playoff final at York City.

"We've had 12 successive years in the national league north. Never gone up, never gone down thankfully, but always been close to getting over the line.

"But Saturday at York gives us the opportunity to do just that"

Callum Bates of the Boston United Supporters Association says he can’t wait:

"It will mean everything, because I think we're getting there. It's been a slow process but we're getting there.

"Getting promotion would mean everything to everyone because a lot of people have put a lot of hard work into the club on and off the pitch.

"It'll be a big day for us and hopefully we pull through and we can do the job.

"I'm expecting it to be loud - I've had two away games in the last week and my voice hasn't recovered.

"I'm crossing my fingers and my toes, I'm just so desperate for us to get promotion, I really am. I'm looking forward to it. I can't wait"
