A Boston family are recovering from the shock of finding a metre long Florida kingsnake underneath their sofa.

The slippery customer is harmless and is now being cared for by the Ark Wildlife park near Stickney.

They hope someone will soon claim the snake but in the meantime he's been named Mickey.

The wildlife park say it's not the first time they've been asked to remove a snake from someone's home.

Ark wildlife say on Sunday (6th Oct) they received a call from a distraught lady saying there was a snake under her sofa.

Jamie the reptile expert went to their home and found the whole family outside their house in the cold while pointing into the room where there was a black and yellow head poking out from under the sofa.

He was able to pick up the snake and take him back to the Ark, where he has been health checked, warmed up and fed.

He appears to have a small sore on his nose but we are told he seems to be in good health.
