Police in Lincoln say they're treating the death of a man as unexplained.
It's after a body was discovered in the Brayford Pool in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called out to reports of a man in the water.
Despite their efforts they were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
He's thought to be in his 50s.
Police will today carry out investigations into the exact circumstances that led to the man's death.
At this stage they say they're keeping an open mind.
We expect to be in the area until at least the afternoon
They're hoping someone may have seen something that could help with their enquiries.
Here's what their statement says:
We remain on scene by the fly-over end of the Brayford Pool on the Waterside North side, and officers are also conducting enquiries on the other side of the marina and in the nearby area.
We expect to be in the area until at least the afternoon.
We are now asking for anyone with information about how he came to be in the water to come forward.
If you were on a night out in the area last night (Sunday 5 May), into this morning, please check mobile phone footage and see if you may have captured anything with a man matching his description.
We are keen to see any footage of him prior to going into the water, as well as anything which may have captured him entering the water.
