Aid taken from Lincoln to the Ukrainian border
Over 8 tonnes of aid has been transported
Over 8 tonnes of donations from Lincoln has been sent to the Ukraine border.
Ukraine Equestrian Relief organised the aid to be picked up and delivered.
It's had support and volunteers from across the country- including Lincolnshire.
We spoke to Richard Sargent who helps to run the donation centre locally.
He told us: "The Polish school in Lincoln actually set up doing a collection service and the hope was to send one van and it just grew and grew."
"My role here is to help with the shipment and the sending side to Poland and then from our charities in Poland they then take it over to border and into Ukraine."
"The whole of Lincolnshire has been absolutely incredible with their donations, every organisation has been coming to us in order to use our shipping ability."
"The support we're now actually receiving from the Ukraine Equestrian relief has just now managed to fast track all of the goods we've received because we've managed to send 4 lorries in one go."
Stephen Barnes was involved in setting up the operation.
He told us: "You can't "unsee" what you see when you're over there and once you have seen so many people needing so much help, they've lost everything, you're sort of compelled to go back."
"It's very difficult not to do more."
