Agreement reached 'in principle' to look into the 'dual use' of the former RAF Scampton base
It's thought around 10% of the site would be used to house migrants
An agreement 'in principle' has been reached to look into 'dual use' of the former RAF Scampton base for housing asylum seekers and planned regeneration.
West Lindsey District Council says this is a significant step forward to secure regeneration plans for the former base and that outstanding legal action against the Home Office is due to be withdrawn.
The exact details are due to be finalised but it's thought around 10% of the site would be used to house migrants while other parts will be used for heritage, business and education opportunities.
Up to 800 asylum seekers will be temporarily housed at the site - originally it was due to be 2,000.
