A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Scunthorpe.

Humberside Police were called to a property this morning following reports of a concern for safety on Baldwin Avenue, Bottesford.

Officers discovered a 39-year-old woman had suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s family are currently being supported by specialist trained officers.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A cordon is in place at the scene whilst officers continue with their enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Grant Taylor said: “We are aware that a tragic incident of this nature will shock the local community, this is an isolated incident between individuals know to each other with no wider risk to the community.

“However, our officers remain in the area to provide reassurance, if you do have any concerns please come and speak to us.
