1.3 million pounds of Government cash is being given to North Lincolnshire to help the most vulnerable this winter.

This includes children receiving free school meals and care leavers. Families will be sent £40 in vouchers for each eligible child in December and a further £40 in March.

Low-income families with children will also be able to claim food vouchers.

A new grant will also help people pay for energy bills and essentials - after they've found themselves with additional needs because their circumstances changed.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“The latest Government cash will make a real difference to those most vulnerable in North Lincolnshire this winter. Where there is a genuine need, we will support.

“We know the economy is moving forward fast as we recover from the pandemic, and there are a great many jobs available, however we also understand there are still challenges which people face.

"This scheme enables people to support themselves and their families at a time when they most need it.”
