A 12 year old boy has a broken arm and a 14 year old girl has been taken to hospital as a precaution after a bus went into a ditch in Lincoln.

Police received initial reports saying the bus had overturned - but that wasn't the case.

It's thought there were around 60 children on the bus on the time.

In a statement confirming their attendance at the scene, an East Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

"We received a call at 8.28am on November 11 to Meadow Lane in North Hykeham.

"The caller reported that there had been a road traffic collision.

"We sent two paramedics in fast response cars, three LIVES community first responders and three double-crewed ambulances. The police were also on scene.

"Currently, two patients have been taken to Lincoln County Hospital via double-crewed ambulances and we are currently still on scene."

Parents and guardians were advised against travelling to the scene and to make their way to St. Christopher’s School on Hykeham Road as the arranged rendezvous point.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach East Midlands said:

"Our immediate thoughts are with the children involved and their families. We are giving the police our full support in helping to investigate and establish the circumstances of the incident."

Police say the roads in the area are now open.
