Children at a school in Grantham have been learning about the important role the tractor plays in bringing food to our tables.

It’s part of Tractors into schools week and helps children find out more about agriculture.

Farmer David Casswell from South Kyme near Sleaford - he tells us why he's taking part at Isaac Newton school today:

"It's important we put out the word to help educate children where their food comes from, so they don't just think it comes from a shelf.

"I mean these youngsters, they are the future of agriculture - so the better they are informed the better it is for agriculture.

David has taken part in the project for the last two years - he tells us why:

"Just seeing the kids enjoying it, that's the main thing, they have a smile on their face and a lot of them won't have ever seen a tractor - so it's great they have the opportunity to do so.

David Milner is the school headteacher at Isaac Newton Primary school in Grantham:

"There's links with their curriculum which sits really nicely, but also it's good for their aspirations and thinking about careers and just the excitement of physically seeing the tractors"

The initiative by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society is now in its 7th year - and aims to introduce children to the industry of farming

Farmers across the county have given up their time to support schools during 26th Feb to the 8th March.

Last year Tractors into Schools was very popular and saw 39 schools involved reaching 3,642 students, educating on the importance of food and farming.
