Halogen heater believed to be behind fatal Bolton fire

A woman and three children died in a house fire in Bolton on Saturday.

A halogen heater has been blamed for a fire which killed a woman and three children have died in a house fire in Bolton.

Emergency services were called to the house on Rosamond Street in the Daubhill area at about nine o clock on Saturday.

One child died at the scene, the woman and two other children died in hospital and a man who escaped is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Bridge, from GMP in Bolton, said:

"These are utterly heart-breaking circumstances and our thoughts go out to anyone affected by this tragic incident.

"This appears to be a family home and we have been working to inform loved ones of this awful loss.

"I know the community will feel the impact of this and I assure you we are working with our colleagues at GMFRS to get to the bottom of what happened, although we are currently not treating it as suspicious.

"This means there will be officers and fire investigators in the area for some time and I would like to thank residents for their patience so far.

"GMP along with GMFRS will be working together to provide assurance to the community over the coming days.

“This happened on a Saturday morning when many people would be up and about and I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to please call us."

Firefighters and community safety teams have visited over 200 homes in Bolton following the fire.

Over the weekend, Safe and Well Visits have been carried out and smoke alarms have been fitted in homes in and around Rosamond Street after the tragic incident
