Woman charged over death of cyclist in St Helens crash

Anya Foster is charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving

Merseyside Police have charged a woman in connection with a fatal crash in St Helens last year.

59-year-old David Burrows from St Helens was hit last December whilst riding a pedal bike on Islands Brow, close to its junction with Hinckley Road, when he was struck by a vehicle and injured.

David was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died of his injuries.

Anya Foster, 32, of Gloucester Street, St Helens, has now been charged with two counts of Causing death by careless driving while over prescribed limit for two separate controlled substances.

In May 2024, Foster had previously been charged with a driving whilst unfit, driving over the prescribed limit for drugs, failing to stop after a collision and failing to report a collision.

A man arrested in connection with the investigation was released and no further action will be taken against him.
