Witness Appeal After Man Attacked On Own Doorstep

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 54 year-old man was attacked and wounded in Preston.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 54 year old man was attacked and wounded in Preston.

It happened just before midnight on Friday (March 25) the victim was stood at the door to his house on Frenchwood Street when he was approached by two men.

They forced him back inside his home whilst hitting him with a knife and metal bar. After demanding money they ran away towards the Avenham area.

The man suffered serious facial injuries in the assault.

The first attacker is described as a white male, in his 20s, of slim build and around 5ft 7in tall. He was wearing a blue jacket and was wearing a cap.

The second offender is described as a white male in his 20s and around 6’2" tall. He was wearing a blue jacket with blue trousers or jeans and had a wooly hat with gloves.

Det Sgt Jerry Sturgess, of Preston CID, said: “This was a very vicious and serious attack.

“The offenders seemed to have targeted the victim and first attacked him from behind before carrying out a cowardly assault.

“I urge anyone with any information at all to come forward.”
