Two arrested with man unconscious after suffering head injury in St Helens

Emergency services were called to a man who was found unconscious last night (2 March) in St Helens.

Merseyside Police say they're appealing for witnesses following the incident, which patrols attended at about 11.50pm on Henry Street.

The man, in his 50s, is reported to have suffered a head injury, and suffered a cut to the back of his head - as well as a suspected fractured eye socket.

He was rushed to hospital, and it's not reported that his injuries aren't thought to be life threatening.

An investigation is underway, and after CCTV enquiries by officers, two men, aged 26 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of s18 assault and are currently in custody.

Detective Inspector Louise Johnson said: “We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry to establish what has taken place in the lead up to the man being injured.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Henry Street at around 11.50pm last night who saw anything or has any information which could assist with our investigation to contact us.”
