Detectives investigating the death of a man in Wigan have arrested a 16 year old boy on suspicion of murder.

Police were called to a property on Samuel Street in Atherton at about 6pm on Friday 17th November.

A 49 year old man was found unconcious at the scene - and despite the best efforts of emergency services he sadly died a short time later.

A 22 year old man was arrested at the scene but has since been released with no further action.

Officers are now questioning a teenage boy, who they arrested last night (19th November), on suspicion of murder.

The victim's been named as Paul Marsh and his family have paid tribute:

“Paul was our son, brother, partner and father and he was loved unconditionally. Paul’s death is beyond comprehension, and we cannot believe that he has died in such a violent and tragic way.

“Paul will be remembered for many things not least, his laughter, loyalty, and sense of fun.

“Paul will not be forgotten, and our world is a sadder place without him in it.”
