81-year old Ann Diggles is accused of knocking down and killing 53-year old Julie Dean outside a charity shop in Leyland in July 2014.
The judge told the court that the case has been adjourned as it would not have been fair for the trial to continue following a close family bereavement.
This comes after the boss of Nissan had flown over from Japan to Preston to give evidence against Ann Diggles.
The 81-year old from Dalehead Avenue in Leyland denies the charge saying she lost control of her car due to an electronic malfunction with her Nissan Qashqai.
The jury's been discharged and a new trial date's been set for January next year.
