Three houses struck by lightning in Lancashire thunderstorms

Firefighters in Lancashire have issued safety advice after three house have been struck by lightning during a thunderstorm.

Firefighters in Lancashire have issued safety advice after three house have been struck by lightning during a thunderstorm.

The properties on Meadowside in Little Hoole were hit at about quarter to eight this morning.

Noone was injured, no fire broke out but there is structural damage to the three properties.

Here's the statement from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service on the incident:

"Lightning struck three houses, injuring no-one but inflicting damage on the buildings and prompting a response of four fire engines and crews, from Penwortham, Tarleton, Bamber Bridge and Preston to investigate a report of possible fire. There was no fire, but firefighters confirmed occupants were safe and called for the services of the Red Cross Fire Emergency Support Service, which works in partnership with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to offer shelter and assistance to people in the aftermath of fires or other emergencies."
