A third person has been charged in connection with an explosion in Heysham which killed 2-year-old George Arthur Hinds earlier in the year.

It comes just days after detectives charged Sharon (51) and Darren (44) Greenham, both of Ambleside Avenue, Lancaster, with manslaughter and theft.

Paul Marsh, 54, of Banks Crescent, has now also been charged with theft and criminal damage.

Police were called to Mallowdale Avenue at about 2.40am on Sunday, May 16th 2021, where they found two houses collapsed with serious damage to a third property.

George’s parents were also injured in the blast, although thankfully not seriously. They continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

A criminal investigation was launched in the days following the explosion and detectives, assisted by gas experts, identified the cause of the explosion as a gas pipe which had been cut inside number 20 Mallowdale Avenue.

All three people will appear at Lancaster Magistrates' Court on 12th January.
