Thieves Blow Up Cash Machine And Steal Thousands

The robbery sparked a mass police search in the early hours of this morning.

Detectives are investigating the robbery of a cash machine at a post office on Whalley Old Road in Blackburn in the early hours of this morning The incident occurred at around 2.45am when four men wearing balaclavas have blown through a wall, gaining access to the ATM machine. They managed to get away with thousands of pounds in cash and were seen heading from the scene at speed in the direction of Rydal Road, Blackburn in a 62 plate dark Volkswagen Golf. Officers tried to trace the vehicle and the police helicopter was deployed in the search, however the car is still outstanding. DS Adrian McHugh from Blackburn CID said: “This investigation is still in its early stage, however we can say it was a planned, targeted attack. “We are still actively looking for the four men involved and the vehicle which was used so if you have any information that could help us with our investigation, please call us on 101 quoting incident reference 157 of July 22nd.”
