Lancashire's Eden Project North opening pushed back after Government funding
The Project also now needs an additional £50m from private investors

The official website for Eden Project North has updated the proposed opening date after receiving £50m of levelling up funding from government.
Until yesterday (19 January), the website said they were hoping to open by 2024, giving them between one and two years to get the project built and opened from the ground up.
A recent update shows a new date in 2026.
Simon Bellamy is Eden Project North's Activation Manager. He says:
"We know it's going to be a two-year construction phase, but to get there we're going to be working really hard with our partners as well to make sure we're realistic but that we've got a really high quality destination as well.
"You always look at projects with realism. Nobody can look back at the last six months, or even two years to think that you always want a project with a realistic time frame."
The Eden Project also needs to secure an additional £50m from private investors, before it can open, taking the total send to an excess of £100m.
However the project is confident the funding from Government will unlock private investment, and give investors the confidence to put up the additional funding.
Simon told us:
"One of the most important things is the signalling from Government which says 'we believe in this project' will unlock further investment.
"We've already got conversations going on that front so we are completely confident we are going to get that next level of funding to get that £100m needed for this project."
